NEWBERRY - "We are really excited about the future," said David Minnick, president of Kiswire Inc. The company held its ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday for their new plant location on S.C. 76.

Minnick expressed his excitement for the second location, saying that their first Newberry location on Highway 219 had been in operation about 14 years.

Speakers for the ceremony included Bob Marriott from the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Walt McLeod, representing District 40, Buddy Livingston, Chairman of the Newberry County Council, and Jim Apple, Chairman for the South Carolina Central Alliance.

Each speaker present took the opportunity to thank Kiswire for their expansion and the growth they've made in the community of Newberry.

"From an educational prospective, I want to thank you for choosing Newberry and for making great opportunities for jobs," said Livingston.

Presenting Minnick with a state flag to fly proudly at the new location, Bob Marriott said,"While the investment is big in Newberry, it will also be big all over the state."

The foundation for the second Kiswire location has begun, with total construction anticipated to be complete by September of this year. Target running time is expected for October.

Kiswire is a maker of steel cord for the tire industry. For more information about the company visit www.kiswire.com.

Quoting the company website: "As a child's piano melody floats through your home; As cars weave through the morning traffic; As a bridge sparkles in the early morning sunlight; And as an elevator takes you up to the office - Much more than you realize, Kiswire is near, making our world a better place."
